Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data we collect when you use the tunjuk.id website or its mobile app, what that data is used for, and who it may reach. By using our service, you agree to this policy. See also our Terms of Use.

1. Reading Without an Account

You do not need to register to read the news on tunjuk.id. As long as you are only reading, we do not store your identity in our database.

What still happens when you open an article:

  • The article's read counter goes up. Only the number is stored on that article, with no reader identity attached.
  • So that one person is not counted repeatedly, the list of articles you have just opened is held briefly in your browser session and discarded after 6 hours. Visits from crawler bots are not counted.
  • As on any website, your IP address and browser type are recorded in server logs for security and troubleshooting.

2. If You Sign In

Commenting, saving bookmarks, and receiving notifications require you to sign in with a Google or Facebook account. We never receive or store the password to those accounts.

From that provider we receive and store:

  • your display name, email address, and profile photo link;
  • the account identifier from the provider and the provider's name, used to recognise you the next time you sign in;
  • the dates your account was created and last updated in our system.

If your email address is already registered, the profile data above is updated on the existing account — a new account is not created.

3. Comments

When you post a comment or reply, we store the comment text, the time it was sent, the article it belongs to, and your display name, profile photo, and email address. Like, dislike, and spam-report counts are recorded on that comment as well.

Your display name and profile photo are shown publicly beside your comment. Your email address is not shown to other readers; we use it for moderation, for example to act on accounts that break the rules.

4. Bookmarks and Notifications

Bookmarks store which articles you marked, along with their title, image, category, and the time you saved them, tied to your account. Only you can see this list. Notifications are used to tell you about activity related to your account.

5. The Contact Form

The Contact Us form asks for your name, email address, subject, and message. Those entries are stored on our server and at the same time forwarded as a WhatsApp notification to the operator's number through the iConnect service, so that your message is read promptly.

The form is also protected by Google reCAPTCHA v3 to filter out automated submissions. For that check, your IP address is sent to Google along with the device and browser behaviour data that reCAPTCHA collects. Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.

6. What Is Stored in Your Browser

Reading preferences are stored in your browser's local storage and are never sent to our server: text size, layout width, and the speed and voice of the text-to-speech player. All of it disappears if you clear your browser data or switch devices.

We also use technical cookies required for the site to work: the session cookie and the form-security (CSRF) cookie. The third parties below may set cookies of their own.

7. Third-Party Services

Our pages load components from third parties. When those components load, your IP address and basic browser information are visible to their providers. Each is governed by its own privacy policy:

  • Google Analytics — visit statistics in aggregate form.
  • Google AdSense and Google Ad Manager — ad delivery, including rewarded ads on article pages. Google may use cookies to tailor ads to your browsing behaviour. Details are in Google's advertising policy.
  • Google reCAPTCHA v3 — filtering automated submissions on the Contact Us form.
  • Google Sign-In and Facebook Login — account sign-in.
  • ShareThis — social sharing buttons on article pages.
  • Google Fonts, Font Awesome, and jsDelivr — typefaces, icons, and the emoji picker.
  • iConnect — forwarding Contact Us messages to the operator as WhatsApp notifications.

Privacy policies of the main providers:

8. What Your Data Is Used For

  • showing your identity on comments you post;
  • storing your bookmarks and sending your notifications;
  • responding to messages you send through the Contact Us form;
  • moderating comments and acting on abuse;
  • measuring which articles are widely read, in aggregate figures;
  • keeping the service secure and troubleshooting technical faults.

We do not use your data to send promotional email without permission.

9. Disclosure to Others

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. Data may be disclosed only when:

  • required by law, for example on a formal request from an authorised agency;
  • needed in good faith to protect the rights, safety, or security of you, us, or others, including investigating fraud;
  • shared with the trusted service providers that help operate this service — as listed in section 7 — who are bound to keep it confidential.

10. Security

We apply reasonable safeguards to protect your data, including encrypted connections and restricted database access. Please be aware that no method of transmitting data over the internet can be guaranteed completely secure.

11. Retention

Account data is kept for as long as your account is active. Published comments remain as part of the public conversation unless you ask for their removal. Contact Us messages are kept as long as needed to respond and to trace the history of the exchange.

12. Your Rights

You have the right to request a copy of, a correction to, or the deletion of the personal data we hold about you. Submit your request through the Contact Us page or by email to admin@tunjuk.id, and we will respond within a reasonable time.

13. Account Deletion

If you no longer wish to use our service, the account linked to Google or Facebook and its data can be deleted. The procedure, together with which data is deleted and which is retained, is on the Account Deletion page.

14. Children

This service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If we learn that data belonging to a child under 13 has been stored, we will delete it promptly.

15. Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated from time to time. The latest version takes effect once published on this page and supersedes the previous one. We suggest revisiting this page occasionally.

16. Contact Us

Questions about this policy can be sent through the Contact Us page or by email to admin@tunjuk.id.
